Learning Outcomes
Food labels can be confusing. Help your employees male sense of the information on food packaging and feel more confident making healthier, informed choices with our Understanding Food Labels webinar.
What is it?
This practical workplace nutrition session cuts through some of the confusing numbers, terminology and marketing messages found on food packaging and is led by experienced nutritionist Anjanette Fraser (MSc Nutritional Medicine).
How long is it?
60 minutes (45min + 15min Q&A)
How is it hosted?
The session can be delivered either:
- in-person (at your office or chosen venue)
- online as a live talk
It is highly interactive in both formats, using Slido to engage participants throughout.

- Discuss the Reference Intakes (suggested daily amounts of macronutrients and how useful they are)
- Per 100g versus per portion (and why serving size matters)
- Should we be calorie counting
- Comparing similar products and making a more informed choice
What attendees will gain
- Greater confidence interpreting food labels and ingredient lists.
- A better understanding of recommended daily amounts of carbohydrates, protein and fats.
- Practical guidance on portion sizes and how much may be too much.
- A clearer understanding of calories and whether calorie counting is useful.
- Practical knowledge they can apply immediately when shopping, preparing meals or choosing food at work.
Ideal for
- All employees: providing practical nutrition knowledge relevant to everyday food choices.
- Workplace wellbeing programmes: an accessible session that helps build health and nutrition awareness.
- Healthy eating campaigns: particularly useful alongside nutrition, healthy weight or lifestyle initiatives.
- Employees wanting to make healthier choices: without following restrictive diets or complicated nutrition plans.
Why Understanding Food Labels matters in the workplace
- Better-informed choices: food labels can be confusing, making it difficult to judge which products are genuinely healthier.
- Everyday health literacy: understanding nutritional information gives employees practical skills they can use long after the webinar.
- Energy & concentration: everyday food choices can influence how energised and focused people feel during the working day.
- Long-term health: understanding portions, nutrients and fruit and vegetable intake can support healthier eating patterns over time.
- Practical wellbeing: rather than simply telling employees to “eat healthily”, the session gives them tools to make more informed decisions for themselves.
