Why menopause matters in the workplace

Menopause is no longer a “private matter”—it is a critical workplace issue. Acknowledging it is vital because:
  1. Retention of talent: many women at the peak of their careers consider leaving the workforce due to unmanaged symptoms; support keeps them in their roles.
  2. Reducing absenteeism: proactive health management reduces the need for short-term and long-term sick leave.
  3. The gender pay gap: by supporting women through this transition, organisations help ensure that experience and leadership stay within the company.
  4. Psychological safety: openly discussing menopause reduces stigma, fostering a culture of empathy and belonging.
