Is there a male HRT?

The male menopause, does it exist?

Mood changes, less motivation, tiredness, reduced libido, increased body fat, memory problems, and sleep disturbances.

Sound familiar?

These are possible symptoms experienced by men during andropause (male menopause).

These are of course symptoms of many other health concerns so please make an appointment with your doctor to rule out anaemia, thyroid, etc…

Should you pay attention?

Yes.

Andropause is similar – yet different – to menopause. Both involve hormones, the male version is a gradual decline in testosterone, and the female is a roller coaster of hormone fluctuations.

Testosterone decreases on average 0.4-2.0% per year from the age of 30. It’s so gradual that many men may not notice it. Yet it is cumulative so eventually most will.

Do you need to do anything about it?

Yes.

Ask your Doctor for a testosterone blood test. It’s quick, easy, and may give you peace of mind.

You need testosterone, and here’s why:

  • Maintain muscle mass (less of this will also likely mean fat gain)
  • Bone health
  • Mood and mental health
  • Energy

Is there a male HRT?

Yes, it’s Testosterone Hormone Therapy (THT) and can be prescribed by your Doctor if your blood test results are low.

It’s important to remember that andropause is a normal part of aging and doesn’t affect all men to the same degree. Lifestyle factors such as regular exercise, a balanced diet, stress management, and adequate sleep can also play a role in supporting overall wellbeing during this stage of life.

Where can you find out more?

Andropause is just one of the topics included in our Men’s Health webinar/seminar. We also include; heart, mental, and prostate health. Three areas of health mid-life men (and their partners/colleagues) should know more about.
